Overview
The capital of the ancient Roman Empire was at its most resplendent under a full moon, and your visit will be illuminated by your own 'private moon', the better to recreate the atmosphere of old. This is likely the most evocative and magical way in which to experience the splendour and history of the Colosseum, with the tour lasting about 60 minutes and including the first level and arena of this ancient monument, enriched by the discovery of new graffiti during the lockdown. Also included is a downloadable 'Colosseum and Roman Forum' ebook guide in PDF, mobi and epub formats.
All is rendered especially majestic as a result of the special lighting and effects, not to mention the relative lack of visitors!
There are tours in English and Italian, with various start times between 8.00 and 10.30 PM approximately.
Please note that in the case of bad weather the tours may not be able to go ahead, especially in winter months. You should always show up for the tour as decisions are often made at the eleventh hour and you would not want to miss out!

29th Jun 2019This was an amazing tour, it gave me goose bumps! I have been told that the day tours are very busy so wanted to avoid this - so glad we did as we got to see so much and didn't feel rushed or pushed through like cattle. We had the added drama of a lightning storm in the distance which made it even more incredible. The tour guides were full of wonderful information who also made it fun too.
