A two-hour guided tour of the remains of Herculaneum, buried by Vesuvius in 79 AD. The tour runs on Wednesdays and includes your coach from Sorrento and your experienced guide.
This tour does not include entrance fees for the excavations of Herculaneum, including the first 'free' Sunday of the month.
Herculaneum offers a fascinating contrast to the remains of Pompeii - buried in hot ash by the eruption, the conditions allowed for the preservation of smaller objects and wooden structures which offer a fascinating insight into the life of this Roman holiday resort.
The tour starts with a 45 minute drive along the Sorrento Peninsula followed by a two hour exploration of the ruins. The tour will return to Sorrento in the late morning.
The tour is in English, but it is possible to arrange bilingual tours (English/French or English/German) for groups of 10 or more.
The tour leaves at 8:10 AM and returns at about 1:30 PM.
Entrance fees: Please note that some of the following fees may not be included in your ticket (this will be stated in the ticket description):
- Excavations of Herculaneum. The first Sunday of the month is free of charge.
In order to take advantage of reduced or complimentary tickets, you must present valid identification (ID card or passport) on the day.
