Information and ticket booking for after dark tours of the Forum, Rome, Italy
Following the enormous success of the Colosseum by night tours we can now bring you the Forum by night - 'La Luna sul Foro Romano'. All tours are carried out by official staff.
From May the 5th till the end of October (Fridays & Saturdays only) you can enjoy a unique perspective on one of the most historic areas of Rome. Tours begin at around 8.15 at night, running up towards midnight, and do not number more than 25 people. The area is closed to ordinary visitors by that time, further adding to the truly unique sensation of wondering the byways of ancient Rome under moonlight and new, dramatic illuminations.
Tours last around 75 minutes and head off every 30 minutes - they're offered in English as well as Italian, so be sure to pick a time accordingly.
The tours will see you exploring the via Sacra, the main thoroughfare of the Forum, framed by the heights of the Campidoglio and the Arch of Titus. You'll begin at the broken columns of the Basilica Emilia, passing on to the Curia, the seat of the Roman Senate. The Curia will be lit in it's entirety, allowing you to view the marble floors and what remains of the Byzantine art there.
Leaving the Curia it's on to the arch of Settimio Severo and another strectch of the via Sacra, ascending to the Arch of Titus. passing the temples of Antonino and Faustina as well as that to Romolo.
Finally it's the Temple 'di Venere e Roma' and one of the most impressive views of the Colosseum you're likely to ever see.
Please note that this is a guided tour of the Roman Forum 'only' - it does not cover the Palatine Hill area nor the Colosseum! Reservations are likely to be exhausted pretty quickly - again, these tours run on Friday & Saturday evenings only.
