How to take part in a guided trip into the classic countryside of Chianti, Tuscany - enjoy food, wine and scenery.

Leaving from central Florence at 2.15 in the afternoon (runs Tuesdays and Thursdays) this tour lasts around 5 and a half hours. You'll enjoy a relaxing excursion into Tuscany and the classic Chianti area, with tastings - an excursion to stimulate your imagination and delight your senses.

First stop, out in the country, will be at a typical Tuscan farmhouse, with a tour of the wine cellar and an explanation of how wine is made. This will be followed by a tasting of notable local wines - Chianti Classico, Chianti Riserva and Tuscan IGT - served with locally produced salami and bruschettas with extra virgin olive oil and aromatic vinegar.

After the tasting it's on to the famous town of Greve - where you'll have an opportunity to explore the town and visit various shops specialising in traditional Tuscan foods and wines.

Then it's back out into the scenic countryside to visit another winery where you'll taste more local wines - Chianti DOCG, Chianti Rosè and 'Supertuscan' wine along with Cinta Senese salami.

The return to Florence will be in the late afternoon.

Thoroughly enjoyed this afternoon tour which packed a lot in. We purchased some of the items on sale from both visits and didn't feel we had been ripped off. The first wine tour concentrated on the fact it was organic produce. The presentation was extremely interesting and given passionately. A mouche bouche plate was provided along with the recommended wines, oils and balsamics to taste. The second wine tasting was a little less formal but none the less interesting. Plates of sliced salamis and cheeses were provided along with the wine tasting. A humorous presentation from the vineyard owner ensued followed by a short, interesting guide to the cellars. We purchased a lovely bottle of wine here for about 12 euros and wish we had bought more. It rained nearly all afternoon but we hardly noticed the weather. An excellent trip and all in beautiful, easy to understand, English.
