Florence – Vasari Corridor to reopen in 2020?

The last time we wrote about this it ‘was hoped’ that the corridor spanning the Arno would be ready to open to the public once more come 2020. This was dependent on the planning stage, the actual specification and designs, being completed, before passing on to the tendering stage.

Speaking over the past few days, the Director of the Uffizi Gallery, Eike Schmidt, has conformed that the planning stage has been completed and the tendering stage will now begin. Whilst clearly still hedging his bets, he said that ‘if everything goes smoothly’ with this next phase then the Vasari Corridor could re-open in 2020.
