‘Arte torna arte’
Galleria dell’Accademia, Florence
8th May –
4th November – extended until 9th December 2012
The title of this exhibition is a tricky one to translate … ‘Art becomes/returns to/back to art’ but the concept is pretty much that of a cycle, a common root system, a constant flux of creation across all parts of a culture.
This is exemplified via a juxtaposition of art ancient and modern, a placement of Florentine Renaissance and Medieval art alongside modern speakers of the same common language, artists such as Warhol, Bacon, Picasso, Pistoletto, Duchamp and many, many more. Throughout the run of the exhibition there will be events, meetings, films and explorations of the themes and directions of this unusual and diverse exhibition.
