Florence, Palatine Gallery at the Pitti Palace and the San Marco Museum
‘Restituzioni 2011’, March – June 5th 2011
Two shows of newly restored art treasures, ranging from tapestries to ivory carvings to paintings, busts and terracotta works. In the case of the San Marco piece of the exhibition, the centrepiece is, well, best to quote from one of the linked pages below:
For the Tabernacle of the Linaioli by Beato Angelico, an absolute masterpiece of early Renaissance art, a work so fragile and delicate that it cannot withstand further moves, a special ancillary exhibition running simultaneously with the show in the Pitti Palace has been organised in the fifteenth-century Sala della Biblioteca in the Florentine Museum of San Marco.
