Florence – Restrictions On Eating In Public

Another – admittedly slightly unusual – reason for pre-booking tickets for the Uffizi is a new regulation introduced today. Across various Florentine streets – Via de’Neri, Piazzale Uffizi, Piazza del Grano and Via della Ninna – it is now an offence, punishable by fines of between 150 and 500 Euro, to consume food in public. You do not want to be stuck in a long queue for the Uffizi Gallery between the hours of noon and 3.00 PM and then again from 6.00 PM to 10.00 PM – this rule apples to you!

This is part of the #enjoyrespect initiative and is apparently in response to complaints about the amount of rubbish and mess left behind.
