‘Islam e Firenze. Arte e Collezionismo dai Medici al Novecento’
Islamic art from the Medici to the 19th century is the theme of this exhibition, taking place at the Uffizi, Bargello and Biblioteca Nazionale in Florence until late September 2018.
Two years of international research have led to this major exhibition that aims to shine a light on the relationships and cross-pollination between art of east and west and the key role played by Florence in these exchanges of culture and religion, commerce and intellect.
Displays are extensive and wide ranging, taking in animal sculptures, ornate metalwork and vases, manuscripts, tapestries and decorative objects from the ages.
