‘La Sapienza Risplende. Madonne d’Abruzzo tra Medioevo e Rinascimento’

‘Knowledge (or wisdom) shines again’ is a clumsy translation of this exhibition’s title, especially given that the wisdom alluded to is maternal, from the womb. The subtitle is easier to translate – ‘Madonnas from Abruzzo from medieval times to the Renaissance’; the ‘shines again’ is referring to the fact that these works of art were rescued and restored from the rubble of the Abruzzo earthquakes, as the video below vividly demonstrates.
