Ticket booking for a guided tour of Rome including the Spanish Steps and the Castel Sant'Angelo.
This is our third 3 hour walking tour of Rome - the first one (link) focuses on the wonders of Ancient Rome and finishes at the Colosseum; the second one (link) has a more baroque theme, finishing at St Peters, whereas this, the third tour, visits many of the same highlights as the second tour but finishes at the Castel Sant'Angelo, the 'Angel's Castle'.
You will not, of course, exhaust all that Rome has to offer over the course of a single three hour tour, but this walking trip will certainly leave you feeling happily informed, with a digital camera screaming for a new memory card. The quick checklist runs Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Castel Sant'Angelo, but of course you'll be gazing all the time at some of the most beautiful streets, squares, fountains, buildings and churches you'll likely ever see.
The tour runs on Wednesday and Friday only, lasts 3 hours and starts at 9.30 in the morning. The tour is entirely in English, and your tour guide will be well versed in matters art and archaeology. The price includes tax, entrance fees and the use of a headphone system where necessary. Group size will never be more than 20 people and is typically between 6 and 12 people.

The tour finishes with a trip inside one of Rome's most visible landmarks, Castel Sant'Angelo, the 'Angel's Castle'. Built as the mausoleum of the Emperor Hadrian, on the right bank of the river Tiber, it has had many a role over the centuries, from Papal refuge to prison and fortress. It has also had many additions, most notably the Baroque statues of angels that give it its latter day name.
It is the building from which Puccini's eponymous heroine Tosca leapt to her death, and you may have seen it in the film of Dan Brown's novel Angels & Demons. We've a post on our blog with some history of the Castel Sant'Angelo.
You'll be escorted up to the famous terrace from where you can admire the jaw-droppingly fine 360 degree views over the city of Rome. Here your guide will say arrivederci and you'll be left to spend as much time looking around as you see fit.
