How to reserve places on excursion (from Rome) to Naples and Pompeii
This is a full day's tour, leaving (by coach) from central Rome early in the morning and getting back to Rome at around nine in the evening. You'll have a tour guide with you at all times, as well as local guides to accompany you during the explorations of the ruins of Pompeii. A restaurant lunch is included in the price, as are all entrance fees.
The drive to Pompeii passes through the regions of Lazio and Campania, passing the famous Abbey of Montecassino en route. Upon reaching Naples you'll enjoy a short panoramic sightseeing tour around the city before heading on towards Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius.
Stopping off for a restaurant lunch and a brief visit to a local workshop that produces coral and cameo pieces, it's time to visit the ruins and excavations of Pompeii, quite rightly a UNESCO World Heritage site (link), and one of Italy's most visited attractions.
This truly splendid Roman city was destroyed by the outpourings of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, and it may well be that you'll see a smoking Vesuvius during your visit. You'll be shown around in the company of a local tour guide, after which it's a return coach trip back to the centre of Rome. The excursion runs seven days a week and is available all year round.
