A morning guided tour of Florence followed by lunch in a local restaurant
This year tickitaly.com have partnered with a long-established Florentine tour operator in order to be able to offer a varied range of Florence guided tours. In this case it is a morning city tour lasting approximately three hours (starting at 9.30 AM), followed by a light lunch in a local restaurant.
The tour starts with a drive up the romantic Viale dei Colli to Piazzale Michelangelo, a strategic viewpoint that offers open views across the splendid skyline of Florence to the hills beyond. Then it's a drive back down the hill and into the historic city centre for a walking tour of the area around the cathedral (Duomo). This takes in the Baptistery with its ornate doors, most notedly the famous Porta del Paradiso, the cathedral with the magnificent Cupola (dome) by Brunelleschi, and Giotto’s bell tower (campanile).
After this it's a short walk to the Galleria dell' Accademia where you'll bypass the queues and head straight in to view Michelangelo's famous David. An assistant will then accompany you to a traditional local restaurant where you'll enjoy a light lunch and accompanying drinks.
* This tour is available from March 16th until November 15th, but please note that should you opt for a Monday tour then you shan't be visiting the Accademia and David (it's always closed on Mondays), but either the Bargello Museum or the Medici Chapel instead.
Tours are available in English, Italian, French, German and Spanish; children under the age of 2 pay nothing, children between 2 and 8 qualify for reduced price tickets.
