Information and ticket reservation for a 4 hour boat tour around the Lagoon, Venice, Italy
Journey across the northern waters of the Venetian Lagoon, visit a unique Franciscan convent, explore the colourful island of Burano and its ancient lace-making tradition and sail leisurely back to Venice, passing the cemetery island of San Michele; the bragozzo is a traditional wooden sail-boat with a flat bottom, constructed to cope with the variable depths and shallow waters of the Venetian estuary.

The tour heads off in the early afternoon and lasts roughly 4 hours. There'll never be more than 10 people on the boat, allowing your english speaking captain to impart his passion and knowledge in an intimate environment. First embarcation is on the tiny (4 hectare) island of San Francesco del Deserto (website link). Legend has it that Saint Francis founded the convent here, having run aground on his return from the Crusades. You'll be shown around the cloisters and gardens by a Franciscan Friar. There are no public boat services running to this unique spot.
Back onto the boat and on to Burano, where the intricate lace work and brightly coloured dwellings are the subject of many a postcard. You'll have time to browse the island, visiting the displays and shops of finely-wrought lacework. It's then a slow sail back across the lagoon, passing the islands of Mazzorbo and Murano en route to Venice and an aperitivo or two.
This trip runs on Tuesdays and Fridays from the beginning of April until the end of October, leaving at 14.00 (two o clock) in the afternoon. We also feature a shorter (2 hour) sunset tour on the same boat - see here.
