** Please note that this exhibition is NOT in Florence but in the nearby town of Prato, around 20 minutes away on the train.

From Donatello to Lippi. Officina pratese.

Running until the 13th of January 2014, this exhibition is the inaugural one at the Museum of Palazzo Pretorio, Prato, recently reopened after fifteen years of renovation work.

The fifteenth century saw Prato as a key hub for the early Renaissance, with masters such as Donatello, Michelozzo, Maso di Bartolomeo, Paolo Uccello and Filippo Lippi coming here to create a true workshop of ideas and experimentation, the aforementioned 'Officina pratese'.

The exhibition brings together more than sixty works from collections all over the world and is divided into seven themed sections. To quote from the press release:

"The exhibition brings to life this extraordinary moment in the Italian art history of the fifteenth century, when the city of Prato became the centre of artistic innovation where many of the greatest Italian masters of the time operated."

The 2013/14 exhibition is open six days a week (closed Tuesdays) from 10.00 to 19.00.
